1st Annual Miss America Scholarship Pageant

Lets make history Artesia!

Join us in cheering on our contestants as they vie for the crown of our first EVER Miss Artesia!  Miss Artesia is directly affiliated with the Miss America scholarship Organization.  due to the support of our community our winner will receive $1000 scholarship among other prizes. Miss Artesia will go on to compete at the Miss New Mexico pageant in June held in Ruidoso NM.  Miss New Mexico then moves on to represent our state at the Miss America pageant!  These contestants will compete in private interview conducted prior to on-stage competitions.  Onstage competitions will consist of talent, evening gown, onstage question and swimsuit.  We also have teen and little miss divisions!  The teens compete in the same events as the miss except swimsuit becomes fitness wear.  The little misses will express their love for the arts in talent competition only.  We are honored to have our current miss NM Candice Bennatt as our Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.  Miss NM outstanding teen 2012, Natalie Benson will be here to assist and entertain us as well!  Our featured entertainer for the evening is folk guitarist and vocal performer BAT!

All funds from ticket and program sales benefit our organization for next years pageant.  If you would like to get involved as a sponsor, volunteer or contestant please contact executive director, Tao Yates Chumbley at 575-513-1627 for more information.

BAT and his wife, (and manager!) Brenda, are Native New Mexicans

on a three-year (so far) journey to reach as many people as possible.

“The Two Gypsies,” as they are often called, tour North America
constantly now, playing for not only Restaurant, Country Club, Hotel and Casino audiences, but Elk’s Lodges, American Legions, and other civic-minded organizations.

Bat is known all across the USA as an outstanding guitarist and performer who, when not performing his own original ‘Heavy Folk’ Music specializes in all request performances which are at once spontaneous, completely improvised and fun for all ages regardless of genre or time period.

The Gypsies are proud supporters of the Miss Artesia Pageant and are humbled and honored to be included in tonight events. Watch for the Two Gypsies at the opening of the new Artesia Library later this year, following their epic tour of the Atlantic Coast April-September 2013!!
